Michelle Smith has been testifying throughout this legislative session before the House and Senate of the Maryland General Assembly on family l aw and juvenile law bills as the Co-Chair of the legislative division of the Family & Juvenile Law Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association. Michelle has also been teaching as an adjunct professor of the University of Baltimore in the post JD certificate program in Family law. Michelle was recently selected by her peers as a 2022 Super Lawyer, 2022 AV Preeminent Rating Judicial Edition by Martindale-Hubble and by public vote to the 2022 Leading Lawyers for Annapolis & Central Maryland list in the area of Domestic Violence Law by What’s Up Media and to the Top Attorneys in Maryland list by Baltimore Magazine.


Jim Milko recently presented a training on recent changes to Child Support laws during the Maryland State Bar Association’s Legal Excellence Week seminars. Jim was recently selected by public vote to the 2022 Leading Lawyers for Annapolis & Central Maryland list in the area of Family Law Mediation Services by What’s Up Media and to the Top Attorneys in Maryland list by Baltimore Magazine.


Leslie Billman has been awarded the distinct peer designation of being in the 2022 Top 10 of all Maryland Super Lawyers and the 2022 Top 50 of Women Super Lawyers and the 2022 AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubble.


Todd Bennett has been selected by his peers as a 2022 Super Lawyer, and awarded the 2022 AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubble and named to the 2022 Best Lawyers in America list.

Leslie Billman will be a presenter at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Family Law 2020 webinar being held on March 26. She has been selected to the 2021 Maryland Super Lawyers list. Leslie is teaching The Business of Practicing Family Law at the University of Baltimore.


Todd Bennett has been selected to both the 2021 list of SuperLawyers and Best Lawyers again.

LESLIE G. BILLMAN has achieved the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers FAMILY LAW ARBITRATION CERTIFICATION

This certification is awarded only after completion of rigorous and specific training in the application of arbitration procedures to family law issues.

Especially today, with so many courts across the country closed or dealing with large backlogs of cases, clients and their lawyers may be best served through an alternative dispute resolution process such as arbitration.

or 2020, Leslie Billman was selected as Best Family Lawyer (Annapolis), Best 50 Women Attorneys  (Maryland),  Top 100 Super Lawyers (Maryland), and Maryland Best Lawyers.  Leslie, who served on the University of Baltimore School of Law’s curriculum development committee for the post-JD Family Law Certificate program, is teaching this semester’s class on the Business of Family Law to law school graduates enrolled in the program.  The program provides specialized instruction and experience in complex family law issues and matters not generally addressed in law school classes.


Michelle Smith has had a busy start to 2020 as a member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland State Bar Association Family and juvenile Law Section Council.  As an integral member of the legislative sub-committee of the Section, she regularly analyzed proposed Family Law legislation and offered testimony on behalf of the MSBA nearly every week before both the House and Senate of the Maryland General Assembly regarding proposed legislation in our State.  Several important Family Law bills were passed this session; more updates to follow.


In his capacity as a Past-Chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, Jim Milko continues to serve as a member of the Maryland Department of Human Services Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee, and he recently testified at various Senate and House proceedings regarding important child support legislation pending in the 2020 Maryland General Assembly.  He currently serves as an Officer in the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.   He was recently named to the “Top Attorneys in Maryland” list by Baltimore Magazine, and is a 2020 Maryland Super Lawyer in the field of Domestic Relations/Family Law.
